Secretary - Sarah Gutzman (incumbent)
Secretary - Laura Devney

Please read through Sarah and Laura's bios below to get to know them a little better. Voting will be held in person at the January meeting, Sunday, January 10, 2021.

Sarah Gutzman Bio
I joined IGHBA a little over a year ago, when I filled the vacancy of Secretary. I decided to become involved as my family is, and will continue to be, very involved in its program for years to come. There is so much that the Inver Gove Heights Baseball Association has done, continues to do, and can do in the future to serve the growing needs of our community. I've enjoyed being part of the Inver Grove Heights Baseball Association for the past year and would live to continue serving on the IGHBA board as Secretary.

My husband and I have lived in IGH for almost 19 years and are very involved in our kid's sports, church and their school. I played sports year round throughout my youth into college and continue to play both volleyball and softball on recreational teams as my time allows. For 15 years, I have worked for the State of MN-Dept of Employment and Economic Development as an area manager for Vocational Rehabilitation Services. I am a Sunday school teacher, lector, communion server, and my husband and I are marriage sponsor couples at our church. I am the co-treasurer at Pine Bend PTSA and also active member in the Middle School PTSA. I am involved with the IGH Hockey Association serving as both a Coordinator and Manager at both the Mite and Squirt levels.

Active involvement in the organization is something that I feel is critical for helping the program to be strong and grow. I would like to continue to be a welcoming association to new families and inviting for all members to be involved. Partnering with other organizations as well as our Booster program, will help our program develop and build stronger baseball players. I feel that giving our times and talents to these organizations is part of our job as parents as well as citizens in our community.

Please let me know if you would live any other future information.
Thank you
Sarah Gutzman

Laura Devney Bio:
My name is Laura Devney. I have been a resident of Inver Grove Heights for the last seven years with my husband, Jake, and four kids: Reagan, Hudson, Easton and Logan. All three of our boys will be playing for IGHBA for the 2021 season, with this being Hudson’s fourth year and Easton’s second year of traveling and Logan’s first year of in-house (which is now coordinated through IGHBA). {Reagan is active in Dance but comes to the baseball field all summer long!}

I am always willing to help out when I am able. Over the years, I have volunteered as Secretary of Pine Bend’s PTSA and as President of my employer’s Community Service Committee, taught Faith Formation and coordinate apparel orders for the Inver Grove Heights Hockey Association. This past summer, I managed the 9AA baseball team as well as the 10A fall ball team.

I have also served as the IGHBA Communications Director since November 2018. Over the last couple years, I have realized that there are many overlapping responsibilities between the Secretary and Communications Director. I feel the best way for me to communicate to you (our Members) is that I be involved even further with decision-making and combine the two positions into one. Our baseball association is moving in a great direction and I would love to be able to help create new opportunities for not only our players, but coaches and families as well. I am passionate about baseball and all that it teaches our kids on and off the field.

I appreciate the consideration for IGHBA Secretary for 2021- 2023.
Laura Devney
IGHBA Communications Director
