IGHBA and IGH Parks & Rec are proud to announce our 2019 IGHBA Coaches/Parent Clinic being held at the VMCC on March 16th, 2018 from 9 am – 12 pm. This is a FREE event and all past/present/future baseball coaches are invited to attend along with any parent who will be having a player participate in this year’s IGHBA traveling, IGHBA VFW/Legion, or IGH Parks & Rec season.

The clinic will consist of approximately 90 minutes of classroom time and 90 minutes of demonstration time. Classroom time will consist of a guest speaker and a question and answer session. We are extremely excited to have former Concordia University baseball staff member, Cory Kissling, as our guest speaker. Cory has coached various levels of youth baseball for the past 30 years.  In addition to working with Little League, Babe Ruth, and American Legion teams, Cory has coached at both the high school and college level.  Most notably, 7 years coaching with Concordia University.  Because of connections with the Minnesota Twins, Cory has had the opportunity to learn from many of Twins coaches, including Ron Gardenhire and Tom Kelly.  Cory has enjoyed a 40 plus year career as a Paramedic and Flight Nurse. He will provide some insight on what it takes to coach a youth team, running effective practices, dealing with disciplinary issues, making youth sports fun, and more. Following the presentation, Cory will walk you through some drills he has used while coaching and what you can do at home to help your player improve.

We encourage as many present/future coaches to attend along with all parents. This clinic is meant to give you insight on what it goes into being one of our coaches and help everyone understand what we are trying to accomplish as the season moves along. This also gives you a chance to ask questions about situations that may arise and how to deal with them effectively. You'll also be able to network with other IGH baseball coaches and share ideas on how to keep moving IGH baseball in the right direction.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on March 16th. Even though this event is free, registration is required in order for us to properly plan for space allocations.
