13A Spartans Claws Back, But Falls Just Short Against Farmington Tigers

13A Spartans fought back after falling down by eight runs in the second inning. The comeback fell just short though, in a 16-15 defeat to Farmington Tigers on Monday. 13A Spartans scored 14 runs in the failed comeback on a single in the second, a walk by Aaren Schmotter in the second, a double by Wyatt Rosendale in the second, a groundout by Grant Burling in the second, a groundout by Jayar Luedke in the third, a in the fourth, a walk in the fourth, a walk by Luedke in the fourth, a in the fourth, a groundout by Burling in the fifth, a stolen base in the fifth, and a passed ball in the seventh.

Both teams exchanged the lead back-and-forth in the game, but Farmington Tigers eventually took the lead for good thanks to a triple in the eighth inning

Farmington Tigers took an early lead in the first inning. #84 drove in a run when he walked with the bases loaded.

After Farmington Tigers scored five runs in the top of the second, 13A Spartans answered with five of their own. Farmington Tigers scored when Henry Hinz walked #13 to drive in a run, Hinz walked #84 to drive in a run, and #20 singled off of Hinz, driving in three runs. 13A Spartans then answered when Caden Wood singled off of #9, driving in one run, #9 walked Aaren Schmotter to drive in a run, Wyatt Rosendale doubled off of #13, driving in two runs, and #13 induced Grant Burling to ground out, but one run scored.

13A Spartans knotted the game up at 15 in the bottom of the seventh inning.

13A Spartans scored five runs in the fourth inning. 13A Spartans's big inning was driven by a walk and a walk by Jayar Luedke.

13A Spartans had nine hits in the game. Brenden Lysne, Wood, and Hinz each collected multiple hits for 13A Spartans. Rosendale led 13A Spartans with four runs batted in. He went 1-for-3 on the day. 13A Spartans was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Lysne made the most plays with seven. 13A Spartans stole 13 bases during the game as three players stole more than one. Burling led the way with three.

Farmington Tigers collected 11 hits. #20, #23, and #5 each collected multiple hits for Farmington Tigers.
