14/15A Spartans Loses Lead Early In Defeat

14/15A Spartans watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 11-8 loss to Mankato on Saturday. Mankato took the lead on a single in the first inning.

14/15A Spartans collected 12 hits and Mankato had 14 in the high-scoring affair

Mankato took an early lead in the first inning. #3 drove in two when he singled in the first inning.

14/15A Spartans scored five runs in the sixth inning. 14/15A Spartans's big inning was driven by a double by Nolan Bloch, a single by Tanner Redner, and a single by Connor Strand.

Mankato scored four runs in the fourth inning. Mankato's big inning was driven by a fielder's choice by #27, a single by #15, and a single by #23.

Brandon Petryszyn, Bloch, Strand, and Redner each collected multiple hits for 14/15A Spartans. Petryszyn led 14/15A Spartans with three hits in five at bats. 14/15A Spartans stole seven bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Petryszyn led the way with two.

#27, #4, #23, and #15 each collected multiple hits for Mankato. #27 went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead Mankato in hits.
