The Inver Grove Heights Baseball Association in partnership with The Cages and Extra Innings is proud to announce that we have a great off season baseball training program for our youth players! IGHBA players will now have an opportunity for an elite level training program located at The Cages in Burnsville.
The program will consist of 10 sessions that each player/family can tailor to their schedule. We have secured multiple batting cages and an instructor on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. and Sunday afternoons from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. starting Thursday, October 29 through Sunday, February 28.
The cost of the program for each player is $120 for 10 sessions. Extra Innings has generously agreed to contribute to this program to keep the cost as low as we can for players. $12 per hour-long session is a great deal and a great value compared to other off-season programs.
The program will be run in large part by Zach Hendrikson, who is not only our Simley High School baseball coach but also the lead instructor at The Cages. There are multiple other instructors on staff that will be helping us as well as having some of our own coaches at each session to assist.
There are two 1 hour time slots on each date. The players will be split into two groups by age/level of play. The first slot offered is from 6-7 pm for players ages 8-11. The second slot offered is from 7-8 pm for players 12 and up.
The main focus of the program is to work on hitting and becoming better, more consistent and confident hitters. The program will be mainly run in two batting cages and the goal is to have approximately 10 or less players at each session keeping the instructor to player ratio at 5:1. There may be times that a session does have as many as 12 and as few as 2-3 players based on how sessions fill up.
We have set aside a few sessions for catching specific focus, players will need to bring there own catching equipment to these sessions. There are also multiple sessions set up for pitching and arm care. These sessions will be focused on learning and building proper throwing/pitching mechanics as well as learning how to properly use arm bands and have proper arm care. We strongly suggest any and all players attend these if they can, even if they don't plan to be a pitcher this upcoming season. Arm care, proper throwing mechanics and band work are essential to all players regardless of position. If these sessions fill up we can add more focused around this.
